The Group’s Education division is spearheaded by the International University of Malaya- Wales (IUMW) which was established based on a mutual partnership between Universiti Malaya (UM) & the University of Wales, UK in 2013.
Leveraging on this partnership, IUMW stands out in the market as one of the first universities in Malaysia to offer Dual Award programmes in collaboration with its partner university, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), UK.
IUMW’s unique origins enable it to draw on the expertise, reputation and intellectual capital of UM and UWTSD to offer market-oriented Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in the core subject areas of Business, Communication & Technology, and Science & Psychology.
To ensure that students are future proofed for the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and meet employer expectations, IUMW prioritises industry linkages through partnerships, collaboration in research, education, training as well as intellectual forums and discourse, in line with the government’s theme of ‘Education as an Industry (2020-2025).
Attesting to IUMW’s robust linkages with business, IUMW is able to call upon its Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) for strategic advice on the university’s education and research activities and championship of academic-industry collaboration. IAP members include distinguished leaders from private and public sector organisations who are highly influential and valued for their expertise and external industry perspectives.
These advantages are further boosted by the strategic location of IUMW’s urban campus in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, in the vicinity of national landmarks such as Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, Tugu Negara and the ASEAN Sculpture Garden, as well as easy connectivity through various private and public transportation networks.
