The Group’s Plantation business began with the development of its Oil Palm Plantation estate in Kota Tinggi, Johor and the establishment of UM Plantations Sdn Bhd.
To overcome dependency on a single crop, UM Plantations will expand its landbank and shift its focus to the multi-crop business. UM Plantations will utilise UM’s land in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan to further cultivate oil palm. Meanwhile, the Johor estate will commence its replanting activities in 2023. Another estate in Jelebu has been earmarked for development of coconut, bamboo and farming activities.
UM Plantation will also be enhancing its technology adoption by implementing a well-planned and integrated mechanisation system for greater automation and reduced dependency on manual labour.
